Top Five Books Of 2014!
(better late than never )
I can’t believe how quick this year has gone, it really has flown by, and I’m back here, picking five of my favourite books from the last twelve months!
I decided this year I would only pick five books. This was surprisingly easier than trying to narrow down to ten. These are the first five books that I knew would make the list, and as I was only choosing five, I didn’t have to struggle to get to ten. I read a total of 127 books this year,(I might sneak a Fifty re-read in before the year is out) not bad going considering I’ve been in a funky type of place the last eight weeks! So, here they are, in no particular order :
First up, is Taint by S.L Jennings. This book rocked my shiz! I just LOVED everything about Justice Drake, including his arrogant, cocky ways It was a quick read, that I just ate up, and one that I didn’t want to end. I have a review of Taint here on the blog if you fancy a look.
Next is Dark Wolfe by Christine Feehan. I am a massive fan of Christine Feehan, her writing is amazing and I absolutely the Carpathian series. However, I felt the last few books weren’t quite living up to the previous books in the series. Dark Wolf is a huge turnaround for the Carpathians. Dark Wolf was the story of Dimitri and Skylar and I had been waiting years for their story. I wasn’t let down. Brilliant! Go start this series if you haven’t! I also reviewed this book on the blog.
Next up is Revival by Stephen King. Stephen King was one of the first authors that I ever read. I’ve read a lot of his books, favourites include IT, Christine, Pet Sematary, 11/22/63 and The Stand. The last few books he’s put out I’ve felt a bit meh about, to be honest. However, Revival was just fantastic. Revival felt like the Stephen King that I have grown up reading. I haven’t reviewed it yet,(it’s coming up) so I don’t want to go into anything major, that ending was possibly one of the most devastating and shocking endings, ever. Period. Not because it was bad, quite the opposite, not because it was gory and terrifying but because it made me question the thought of something else. I’ve never met a single person who hasn’t read a Stephen King book or who hasn’t wanted to try one. He is the Master storyteller and reading Revival felt like I was coming home.
Next up is Bang by E K Blair. This was one of those books that stayed with me for days after I read it. The characters were seriously fucked up, my head was all over the place, my emotions wrecked and oh my goodness… serious heartbreak! I just LOVED this sooooo much! Everything I love in a book, secrets, love, revenge, and passion was rolled into Bang! Just fabulous!
And finally, a list is never complete without The Warden.
The King.
Black Dagger Brotherhood.
J.R. Ward
Wrath
Xcor…you naughty Bastard! Ha!
Need I say anything else?!
I’ve read a real mix of authors this year, old favourites and I’ve found some new favourites too! I have to mention Pepper Winters, J A Huss, Jay Crownover, Kylie Scott and Lili St.Germain. These ladies have ROCKED my world this year, their books have been fantastic and I’ve been sucked in by all them! If I had been doing a top ten, books from these ladies would’ve been featured. How I would’ve narrowed them done, I don’t know!
I’ve got a list of books that I’m looking forward to reading in 2015 coming up next!
Wishing Everyone A Happy New Year!
