Please welcome to Readers Confession, Coast Magic Featured Author, Dana Marie Bell. Let’s learn a little bit about her and find out what’s her newest release! :-)

Mini Interview:

What is your writing schedule like?
Get up, have breakfast, put on music/tv (I need sound when I write or I get distracted by the clacking of the keys), re-read what I wrote the day before to get myself in the swing of things, and off I go! I take periodic breaks when my hands hurt or the voices go quiet. When that happens, I get up, wander the house, talk to my husband, play with the puppy or make a snack. Then it’s back to the keyboard until I’m dried up for the day, somewhere between 1800 and 3000 words a day, four to five days a week.
Do you write multiple books at once?
Oh hell no. I have seven (at last count) series going at once, all with different worlds and rules. I’d lose what little mind I have left. I have kids, so there isn’t much to spare, you know.
I know you write lots of shifter books. What draws you to shifters?
I like shifters because a) FUZZIES! and b) their power is finite. I can’t Mary Sue my way out of a corner I write myself in. If their powers don’t cover the problem, they’re SOL. So I have to think both inside and outside the box when it comes to bad guys or situations, and that makes my evil little heart go pitty-pat with glee.
What is your all-time favorite author/series to read and why?
Aw, jeez. You’re asking a lifetime bookaholic what/who they love most? That’s like picking between your kids! Hmm… MaryJanice Davidson’s shifter books, Shelley Laurenston’s shifter books, Anne Bishop’s Dark Jewels series (so love Lucivar), Mary Calmes’s shifter series and her Bulletproof series, TJ Klune’s Bear, Otter and the Kid series… too many to name, really.
What are you most looking forward to at Coastal Magic?
Well, two things. First, getting to hang with authors and readers alike. I love small cons because it gives you a chance to sit down and really enjoy one another, something it’s hard to do at the larger conventions. And second, the ocean! I love the ocean, and every time I see it I’m inspired to write something involving mermaids or selkies.

Be sure to check out Dana’s new book, Warlock Unbound which releases Sept 1st! :-)

About Dana Marie Bell

Dana Marie Bell wrote her first short story when she was thirteen years old. She attended the High School for Creative and
Performing Arts for creative writing, where freedom of expression was the order of the day. When her parents moved out
of the city and placed her in a Catholic high school for her senior year she tried desperately to get away, but the nuns held
fast, and she graduated with honors despite herself. She's now a USA Today best-selling author with Samhain Publishing and Carina Press.

Dana has lived primarily in the Northeast with a brief stint on the US Virgin Island of St. Croix. She lives with her soul-mate
and husband Dusty, their two maniacal children, an evil ice-cream stealing cat and a bull terrier that thinks it’s a Pekinese.
She's been heard to describe herself as "vertically challenged" and "a lapsed brunette." Dana also suffers from ankylosing spondylitis (a progressive inflammatory arthritis of the spine), and can be seen walking with a cane or tooling around in her mobility scooter. Her condition was the inspiration for Belle's hip injury in Steel Beauty.
