Review:
Thoughtful is the new book in the Thoughtless series and takes place after the first book Thoughtless and before the second book, Effortless. I have read Thoughtless. Thoughtful is wrote in such a way that you don’t have to have read Thoughtless to enjoy this story, however I feel it would benefit slightly, even to just understand why Kellan is the hero of this series and why Kiera is the biggest bitch of all!
I just want to get something straight, this is Thoughtless from Kellan’s point of view, there are no added extras, this book is the same BUT completely different and I know that makes no sense at all, but Thoughtful is its own book and could be a story without the Thoughtless connection. I wanted to mention this as there is a certain book {which I won’t name} that was written from the male’s POV and it was a carbon copy of the previous book. This is not the case with Thoughtful. While the plot will be the same and the outcome no different, getting that extra time with Kellan and to experience him through his eyes, is very worth it!
I read Thoughtless some time ago, and I immediately took a real dislike to Kiera, she was the biggest bitch, she was inconsiderate, selfish, annoying and I’ve never wanted to slap someone so much in all my life! Kellan was the the hero of that story and when I found out that S.C Stephens was writing a 1.5 and it would be Kellan’s point of view, I almost pee’d with excitement!

Kellan is a rock star in the making, spending most of his time with his band, making music and hanging around in bars, it’s a simple way of life and he likes it that way. Kellan is grounded on stage and feels at home with his guitar, memories of his painful past are locked away when he performs, the broken part of his soul remains buried through music, until he meets Kiera. Kellan is attracted to Kiera, for the first time, in a long time, Kellan begins to feel and his broken soul begins to heal, however he must hide his feelings, not only does he battle with feelings of self worth but Kiera is his best mate’s girl.
My feelings about Kiera haven’t changed, she is the biggest bitch, with absolute no thought for other people, her decisions were careless and the way she treated Kellan and Denny were just awful and unforgivable. I never rooted for Denny and Kiera, however I couldn’t help but feel for him when Kiera decided to turn on the hate. Kiera and Denny, didn’t seem to fit, whenever Kiera and Kellan were together, they bounced of each other and the chemistry between them sizzled off the pages, these two were made for each other.
Oh Kellan, you can come and strum my guitar ANYDAY!!
I fell in love with this guy way back, but this book made me fall all over again, and even more, which I didn’t think was possible! One of my favourite things was experiencing the growth of Kellan’s character, the inner turmoil he went through and how he much he changed. One of my favourites moments, was when Kellan sees Kiera for the very first time. Seeing it through his eyes it became less about the physical attraction to someone, but to witness how the whole world stands still and silence falls, when you firmly believe that you have met the one person in the world that completes you.

“While she went upstairs and took a shower, I sipped on my coffee. My every thought swirled around her as I absentmindedly watched the TV show Denny was watching. I pictured her undressing, I pictured her turning on the water, I imagined her stepping inside, goose bumps on her skin until the searing water soothed them. I pictured her hands running over every curve. With that lewd movie playing in my head, sitting still at the kitchen table was difficult; all I wanted to do was go upstairs and join her. I could tease her with soft caresses, gentle kisses. Rile her up until she begged me to take her again. I’d love to do that…but not while Denny was here. That felt too far over the line, and I’d already stepped father than I’d ever intended. It was too late to go back now though, so allI could do was be as good as I could be when he was around, and a charming but devilish bastard when ever he wasn’t.”
And who doesn’t love a charming but devilish bastard? Not me! This book is an emotional rollercoaster, full of love, angst, loneliness and heartache. It’s gripping, powerful and addictive. Thoughtful is a whopper of a book, and I do feel that some parts were dragged out, there was a few times where I wished the pace was a little quicker however it didn’t make me love it any less.
Fans of this series will absolutely love spending time in Kellan’s head. Just prepare yourself to fall and feel all over again.
