Review:
Hero is a standalone novel from the author of the On Dublin Street series. OMG! If there is one book that you have to pick up and read this year, let it be this one. I loved it! If you like Sylvia Day you’ll love this, if you like Fifty Shades of Grey then you’ll eat this up! While Hero doesn’t contain the heaviness of BDSM the writing is spectacular. The heroine is a fiery smartass and the hero is the most gorgeous alpha male! These two were on fire, the chemistry between them was smoking and left me wanting a cold shower! I love Samantha Young’s writing, she promises to deliver a sexy romance with so much more and she never fails to let me down. I loved that this book was sexy and steamy but it was also funny and had the right amount of suspense to keep me reading on. Hero is an addictive read which kept me up all night, I couldn’t put this book down and I didn’t want to. Hero is without a doubt a new favourite, and the best book I have read so far in 2015.
There is very little point in me discussing the plot of the book, the summary is all there and actually that is all you need to know. Sometimes it’s just nice to read a book without knowing the whys and the who. I very much liked going into the story and discovering why there was a feud between the families and it really is a twisted up mess! There is also a little plot twist over half way in which I actually didn’t see coming, it was very subtle and there was very little build up to it. While it took me by surprise, by the end of the story it came together very well.
Caine is now one of my all time favourite alpha men. At the start of the book he is quite the dick, but he’s a likeable dick. Caine is a dominant CEO and his flaws are shown from the start but when he meets Alexa, her kick ass smarts and sass really bring Caine out of himself and his character development throughout the story was one of my absolute favourite things about this book. I just LOVED the way Samantha Young made me fall in love with him.
I want to quickly touch on another favourite thing about Hero, which was the setup of the book. It contained so many elements that I love, humour, sex, dominance, suspense, fun, angst and steamy sensual grrrrrness! But what made this book for me was there was no tease. I have read so many books that feature a couple with a dark connection or past that is hidden from the reader. It’s almost become the norm now for how a book should be written, that secrets should stay hidden and revealed only when your 70% in and Hero is quite the opposite. I LOVED that instantly you know how these two characters are interconnected, it made me feel that I could understand Lexi and Caine more, especially Caine, I felt that a lot of his actions were justified and I was very forgiving of him. I really appreciated how it was very upfront, it was different and I loved that, it was great to understand what could possibly make someone tick from the get go.
The back and forth and banter between Caine and Lexi was just fabulous and had me grinning from ear to ear. I know I’ve already mentioned how much I love this authors writing, but I have to say it again. Young has the most amazing gift, her writing is exquisite, she has the knack of making you feel everything. I felt every smile, every touch, every look, everything! I felt it all and It was like I was right there in the story.
I seriously loved this book so much and I could go on and on about it forever, but I’ll stop. Writing this review has made me want to go and read this book again, Hero will be a firm favourite and a book I know I will read again and again.

If you haven’t yet read anything by Samantha Young, then I suggest you get right on that, all of her books are available across all platforms, so there’s no excuse *points finger* Thank you very much to the lovely people at Piatkus UK for providing me a copy of Hero.
